Exercise is one of the frequent go-to sports for physical activity, and while that is taking the lead for a fit fam lifestyle, did you know that your kids can also be a major partaker or even your exercise buddy?
I know you want to be your kids’ protective shield and so your understanding of exercise is that it’s not an activity suitable for a child. But exercise is beyond the physical fitness it provides but also the state of mind it paints.
And most importantly, there are varieties of exercise that are safe for kids to partake in. Examples are; yoga, stretching, dancing, walking, and running etc.
You see relationships can be formed even from the littlest activity. As parents, it’s important you are observant and not take any moment by chance. Exercise is that one activity that can also be a thing of fun between you and your child and also a thing of intimacy and bonding. Exercise with your kids can become an opening to a teaching moment.
Another reason exercise is important for kids is that it helps with developing/improving bilateral-coordination. Bilateral coordination is the ability to coordinate both sides of the body in a controlled and organized manner. For example; stabilizing paper with one hand while cutting with the other. Good bilateral coordination is an indication that both sides of the body are working.
Another importance of exercise for bilateral coordination is that it helps for body awareness. Such that; your child doesn’t need to see how high the stairs are before he or she knows how high to lift his legs or jump.
Other bilateral exercises can include trampoline, swings, swimming and even soccer.
